A fresh sound for Instant Amnesia
Since reuniting, Andrew and Paul have been passionately collaborating on fresh material, embarking on a new recording journey. This has been a novel adventure for us, as neither of us had previously recorded using computers. The accompanying videos were also created by Andrew, employing computer software and AI, which was an entirely new experience. We're excited to share this evolution of our sound with you.
The new songs
The inspiration behind the melodies
Our first release, "Already Gone," emerged from a simple line and a guitar riff by Paul. He played it for Andrew, who then crafted the lyrics. Together, they developed their first new track."Already Gone" is, at its heart, a melancholic song. Its lyrics delve into the complexities of a relationship breakdown and the two individuals involved. However, the accompanying tune has an unexpectedly upbeat quality, creating a unique emotional contrast. We hope listeners will find their own meaning within this interplay of mood and message.
Interestingly, this wasn't the first song co-written by the duo. Andrew had lyrics ready and was about to contact Paul for a tune, but before he could, Paul called him, revealing he was staying nearby. They met that week and finished "Time to Rise," which will likely be our second release.
